A Little Explaination

Hi all,
I'm sure you were a bit confused, if not very, why I cried on Botanical Garden trip (I can't remember the date).
Here's a bit of explaination+something about BB Sharity Gift Box...-_-"
Everyone loves gifts, especially during the Christmas season. Many cannot wait to open their presents on Christmas morn, but some cannot even afford new clothes…
For these past three years, I have been actively participating and supporting the Boy’s Brigade Sharity Gift Box. Before Christmas each year, I will take out some of my savings and together with my family, I would go to the supermarket to shop for “Gifts” for the poor. Not forgetting basic necessities, I try to shop for meaningful items the poor need.
When I was younger, I would be very excited to pick out items and would go down the aisles like a whirlwind to find the canned food and items, causing a great headache for my mother who would have to make me put back some of the items I chose.
Now that I know the seriousness of this matter, I would go and carefully choose what the poor would need and not just taking things off the shelves just because my mother suggested buying them.
After choosing my “Gifts” and paying a share of the total cost with my savings, I feel very satisfied with my purchases. When I walk over to the BB boys stationed at their posts, pride swells in my heart. When I see their tired eyes light up, it gives me great pleasure that I have helped the poor.
I find this act of kindness very meaningful as many of us children take for granted our luxuries such as hand phones and computers, that we often forget all about the poor who cannot afford such things. Some even have to dig in rubbish bins for food and have to eat what others have already tasted and thrown away. If not, they will have nothing to eat and starve.
I learned about these situations when I watched and award-winning video called “Chicken ala Carte”, which shows how some of these poor people get their daily meals. They get their food from the bins of a fancy restaurant, where the father of the family would go daily. It really moved me, especially when they prayed to God, thanking him for everything they had despite the fact that they were eating scraps. To them, getting a chance to eat fresh and clean food, like we do in Singapore, would be a blessing.
Buying rice, canned food and cooking oil for the poor is one of the many things that children my age can do to help them. I will continue to support these poor people and if I can, when I grow up, I would like to start a fund to help them.
Okay? Get it now?
See ya! :D
Oh! and Happy Hols! (Hope you girls had fun at the movies!)
