Merry Christmas to all! :D
sheesh people, I've been exploring Italy, stop hounding on me! T.T
Italy is:
a city of smells: lady's perfume, cigarette smoke, carbon emissions, you know
a city of murano glass: everything is glass! o.o
a city of cold: bring winter jackets, scarves, tall boots, warm Hermione hats to cover your ears, lip gloss or your lips will go cracking
a city of opera masks: the name says it all, every souvenir shop has one!
a city of Santa Maria this and that Basilicas and Chruches
a city of open markets: vege, fish, meat, clothes everything is there!
a city of pinocchios: do I need to specify?
a city of which people are buried in the ground of churches:
seriously! if you try to go round them without stepping, its a huge detour! they're everywhere!
a city of cobble-stone streets: don't bring high heels!
a city of pizza and pasta: need I mention for every meal? walk and eat!
a city of famous tombs: Michelangelo, Leonardo da V., Galileo Galilei, St. Mark (San Marco)
a city of romance: you name it, couples are kissing there! (maybe except the restrooms)
corner streets, metropolitana (their underground MRT), churches
a city of pretty girls and good-looking guys
a city of Italian speaking people: it's fun to have Mass in Italian, you don't understand anything! xD
a city of graffiti!: black white blue pink orange green purple
a city of paintings: do watch out for art museums if you love art! But of course brace yourselves for a lot of, I quote, "lounging nudes"
Rome (Roma) is:
Pope Benedict XVI: he gives readings (IT & EL) on Wednesday morning
Watch out for the two centers of the oval court the pillars will aline!
If your a fan of Patrizio Buanne (I think that's only me, I love his voice) look for Patrizio Buanne's pizzeria
Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel!!!: Your neck and legs will hurt like mad but it's worth the pain if you study it and do your research before going (I didn't and had to do lots of painting guessing)
Pisa is:
Leaning Tower of Pisa!: What else is there!
Duomo
Florence (Firenze) is:
Gates of Paradise: Go read up your Old Testament stories
Art fans, watch out for the Uffizi art collection
Michelangelo's
David Venice (Venezia) is:
narrow alleyways (but its their main streets)
tons of the most beautiful opera masks and serving trays
Venice is on the sea, so take a gondola ride! ;D
Bridge of Sighs: Beautiful bridge to an old prison but under restoration until 2011 *sigh*
FAQ: Do people often fall in the water? XD
Tip: If lost, follow people traffic, you'll always get to wherever you need to.
Really! Throw the maps away and follow yellow signs and graffiti to famous basilica and bridges
Milan (Milano) is:
LAST SUPPER!: please book tickets EARLY EARLY EARLY!
or you'll NEVER EVER EVER get them!
Saint Ambrose (Sant' Ambrogio)
If you want to go, I recommend go borrow DK EYEWITNESS TRAVEL Top 10:
Milan and the Lakes
Venice
Rome
Tuscany (Florence and Pisa)
Look out for top 10 things to avoid at the back! :D Avoid pickpockets!
